Who We Are

We are a diverse alliance of organizations united by a deep appreciation for all interdependent life on the Earth, including the entire human family. We represent a broad spectrum of interests and constituents. We work at different levels: international, national, regional, state, and local. We are active in the community organizing, faith, legislative, regulatory, policy, corporate campaigning, media, and international negotiation arenas. Our members include advocates for peace, health, human rights, national security, and social, economic, and environmental justice in the U.S. and around the world.

Our Vision

We see climate change as unprecedented, and as both a challenge and an opportunity. Because of the magnitude of the likely impacts, effective, creative, and fair public policies are urgently needed. We believe that together, the public, private, and nonprofit sectors can and must develop practical and transformative solutions -- solutions that heal old wounds, and that move our nation and world closer to achieving social, economic and environmental justice.

We realize that social responsibility requires commitment from all of us.  We must turn away from debating scientific fact, reject half-measures and false solutions, and stop delaying the immediate action necessary to combat climate change. Such a commitment requires us to join in growing a broad and diverse justice-based grassroots movement that represents more than traditional environmentalism.

We recognize that our efforts must include making our political system more democratic and our politicians more accountable to their constituents and the common good. If we are to achieve a just, peaceful, and sustainable future, we must curb the domination of powerful corporate interests as we also curb greenhouse gas emissions.
